Planet Jeans - Ganz in Blau

Vor zehn Jahren entdeckten kalifornische Studenten in einer stillgelegten Silbermine eine Levi-Strauss-Jeans. Anhand der Kupfernieten und des Stoffes wurde die Hose auf etwa 1880 datiert. Die ersten Blue Jeans kamen 1873 als Arbeitshosen auf den Markt und kosteten knapp einen Dollar. Das 120 Jahre alte Fundstück brachte auf einer Versteigerung 46.532 Dollar ein. Diese Begebenheit fasst die Geschichte der Blue Jeans treffend zusammen: Ein Massenprodukt, gewebt aus dem Stoff, der Legenden schrieb.
Kultur, Kino, Popmusik, gesellschaftliche Bewegungen - die Blue Jeans gehörte immer dazu. Als "politisches Kleidungsstück" wurde sie von der sowjetischen Jugend als Symbol der Rebellion ebenso getragen wie von den Hippies der Flower-Power-Bewegung. Blue Jeans sind das erste Artefakt mit Weltkulturstatus, das sich bei Menschen jeder geografischen, sozialen, politischen Herkunft oder Hautfarbe derselben Beliebtheit erfreut. Wer Jeans anzieht, streift sich auch die Mythologie der Cowboys und des Rock 'n' Roll über - aber gleichzeitig kann schon ein zehnjähriges Kind, dem Hippie- oder Westernerbe einerlei sind, seine Jeans heiß und innig lieben.
Blue Jeans stehen für Kunst und Kultur, für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte, für Musik und Weltgeschehen. Die Blue Jeans passt sich ihrem Schicksal an und wird je nach Bedarf zu Arbeitskleidung, politischer Kluft oder globalem Modestück. Die Dokumentation "Planet Jeans - Ganz in Blau" wirft einen transversalen, kulturellen und spielerischen Blick auf die Geschichte der legendären Denimhose. Ein Phänomen, dem das Label "100 % Popkultur" gut steht.

Arbor Eco Update: Sustainable & Reclaimed Wood

All of the wood material used in Arbor’s skateboard designs, including the maple plies and veneer deck, come from sustainable sources of supply.  All of the wood byproduct created during the production of our skateboards is reclaimed for use by outside companies or in other Arbor products like belt buckles, hang tags, and zipper pulls.  This allows Arbor to stretch an important resource, while helping to reduce the strain on landfills and forests.
